What do I need to know as a new student?
The minimum age to participate in Bikram Yoga Kapolei’s yoga classes, health programs or workshops is 16. Children 16 to 18 years old must have a written parental/guardian consent. Students of all ability levels are welcome to any of the classes. However, if you have never practiced Bikram Yoga before, we do not recommend to take our silent class (every Monday @ 6pm) as your very first class. For all the other regular classes, you will advance at your own pace and no previous experience is necessary. Please arrive 20 minutes before your first class to register. Wear clothes you feel comfortable sweating in (no bathing suits please). Mat and towels are available for rent at the studio or you can bring your own.
How to prepare for a hot yoga class?
Hydrate well before you come to class. Water is available for purchase at the studio or you can bring your own for class (no glass bottles please). Please do not eat at least 2 hours before class. However, if you have not eaten in a while before the 2 hour cut-off, you should have a light snack (fruit, yoghurt, nuts, etc.).
How often should I practice?
You may need a few classes to acclimate to the hot room and several more classes before your body cooperates. Regular practitioners average 3 or more classes per week. We recommend that you take as many classes as possible during your Intro Week to begin to feel the benefits immediately.
