Matthias and BikramI originally come from Switzerland where I obtained a PhD in Biology with major in Zoology from the University of Bern. From 2006–2011 I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. Although I was very successful in my scientific career it never fulfilled me. I was looking for a type of work where I can be in contact with people and serve them in a healthy way that makes an impact in their life. I found my passion in 2007 when I started to practice Bikram Yoga in Maui, Hawaii. I was immediately intrigued by the tremendous physical and mental benefits of the yoga. It gave me the opportunity to explore and deepen my body-mind connection and transcend physical limitations and illness. By practicing Bikram Yoga I was able to heal a serious knee injury that I sustained from training martial arts for over 16 years. In the following 3 years I took every possible opportunity to deepen my practice by attending master classes and yoga seminars. In spring 2010 I completed the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Las Vegas (700 hrs) and became a Certified Teacher. Since 2010 I have been teaching at various studios in New York (Bronx and Manhattan) and Hawaii (Lahaina, Nimitz, Kailua and Honolulu). As a biologist I have fundamental knowledge of human anatomy and physiology which I apply directly in my classes. I love bringing the light of healing to people through Bikram Yoga and I have never looked back to my scientific career since I started to teach yoga.

I am a native ArgPatricia and Bikramentinean from Córdoba. I discovered Bikram Yoga in New York City in 2009 while I was working as a visiting scientist at the American Museum of Natural History. In my first Bikram Yoga class, I fell in love with the practice and the idea of becoming a teacher started to beat in my heart. Shortly before returning to my hometown in Argentina I knew what would be the next big step in my life: attending the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training Spring 2010 in Las Vegas (700 hrs). Since I graduated from training I have taught numerous classes in New York City and Hawaii (Maui and Oahu). I am thrilled to teach Bikram Yoga in the USA where it all began. Being a Bikram Yoga Teacher allows me to serve people and inspire them to make every day healthy choices by embracing a better and happier lifestyle. It is a daily honor to lead students and let them find their own physical and mental strength, which will eventually guide them to open their hearts and discover self-love and compassion through the practice. Before I became a Certified Bikram Yoga Teacher I obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences from the National University of Córdoba and conducted research in Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, and the USA. I am more than happy to have been able to change my career and become a Bikram Yoga Teacher following the true passion of my heart. Being a Bikram Yoga Teacher is not a job, it is the human being I would like to become for life. In my classes you will find an interesting blend between my biological understanding of the human body and the ancient healing philosophy of each yoga posture.
